Artist Biography:
Hanna Jasmyn Oliva is a music photojournalist and fine arts photographer based in Houston, Texas.
She is a contributing journalist and photographer for music publications writing pop-cultured articles and album reviews. Music has always played a big role in her life as well as her love for attending concerts. She admires the passion and dedication that comes from fan culture. By intertwining her admiration for music into words and capturing it alongside photography is one of her biggest dreams come true. However, Oliva's vision extends beyond the concert stage.
Within her fine art photography work she uncovers her hidden psyche and emotions about the meaning of life often intertwined with feelings of nostalgia. Oliva's interest in exploring the complexities and intensity of humanity has allowed to discover more about herself and encounter the hidden depths of her fears. The pursuit of channeling her inner dialogues and expressing them visually creates a sense of true understanding and processing subconscious ideologies.
Throughout Oliva's undergraduate studies, Art History has held such an impact on her individualistic cultivation as it began the journey of learning the foundational backgrounds of the timeless practice. Inspired by the works of renowned photographers such as Vivian Meyer, Dennis Stock, Linda McCartney, Bob Gruen, and Diane Arbus, have all had a strong relationship upon developing her own artistic craft. By taking the documentary style and candid approach in capturing the stillness and setting of the subject, she establishes the authenticity of a raw moment that best represent the nature at hand.
Furthermore, Oliva has extensive experience in analog film processes and darkroom printing, skills that infuse her work with a distinctive aesthetic.
